With a background in clinical practice, and classroom teaching in Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology moving to web-based teaching seemed to be a natural progression as more and more credentialing bodies seem to recognize the value of what online learning has to offer in the professional development arena. The practice has been in operation for several years providing a variety of clinical services to a diverse clientele. A decision was made to launch CEU-Hours.com in 2004 to accommodate the learning needs of a variety of licensed healthcare providers. Although primary content focus remains on mental health and chemical dependency, an array of specialists have been accessing the courses, including nurses and other providers.

The Courses:

Topics found on CEU-Hours.com addresses a variety of clinical and professional issues that are likely to be encountered in the practice of mental health, chemical dependency, marriage and family, and other clinical practice areas. For this reason, development in these areas is crucial. We feel that CEU-Hours.com offers the licensed professional the opportunity to have an array of content options to select from. We are more likely to gain and apply knowledge from clinical areas in which we have an interest.

We feel that selecting a local workshop because it happens to be the next scheduled topic and renewal is approaching is contrary to the spirit of professional development. The content on CEU-Hours.com comes from material that is either licensed to us for use on the site, or is in the public domain and may be used freely. In some courses, we may utilize material from the National Institute of Mental Health, NIH, and other state and federal agencies. We feel that the healthcare professionals that developed this material have undergone a thorough screening by these funding providers and have been selected because they have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of research far surpassing standards of the average clinician. Your tax dollars have paid for this research and now you are deriving a direct return from the investment by means of professional growth and the opportunity to earn credit toward renewal of your license.
