Our History:

   CEU-Hours.com was established and began delivering online continuing education in 2004. At that time, most metal health and addiction related continuing education was still being delivered in a live CEU workshop format. It became obvious that there had to be a better way to deliver relevant, cost effective and meaningful continuing education courses. The online format offers an opportunity to offer a variety of topics on demand that can be completed anywhere, anytime. It offers the ultimate in in selection and convenience. No more waiting to see if a workshop that might be at least close to topic of interest or clinical relevance will be in town soon, or taking 3 days off to travel hafl-way across the country, attend a one day seminar that is the only place offering the topic you needed and then travel home again. Travel costs, lost income, frustrated clients were just some of the headaches we dealt with to meet the continuing education requirements. We are proud to offer a convenient, cost effective solution.

Our Founder:

   Michael Norgaard, LPC, NCC is the founder of CEU-Hours.com and resides in Bedford, Texas with his wife and children. His educational background includes Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from UT Tyler, a Master of Science degree from the University of North Texas in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Computer Science. In addition, he also earned a Master of Education in Counseling also from the University of North Texas.
     Mr. Norgaard is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. He is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). With a background in clinical practice and classroom teaching in Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology moving to web-based teaching seemed to be a natural progression as more and more credentialing bodies seem to recognize the value of what online learning has to offer in the professional development arena.

Our Courses:

    Our online continuing education courses are designed to meet the needs of the modern clinician, researcher, educator and nurse. Some courses offer a more clinical treatment related focus, while others take a more sociological approach to the material offering a broader overview with related statistical and reference oriented approach to the topic. We utilize a variety of sources for our course materials. We contract with some authors, presenters or publishers to utilize their materials in our online courses while others utilize public domain materials or materials created by CEU-Hours.com staff or contributing authors. We screen material to be sure that it is relevant to the practice of mental health and addiction counseling and/or nursing.
