Target Audience:
This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Chemical Dependency Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Nurses, or any other healthcare provider that is likely to gain professionally from increased knowledge in the subject area. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the clinical topic in the course of practice.


Teaching Method:
This course is being delivered via a web-based format in which you will be asked to read material relevant to the topic and answer questions about the material you have read. You will also have the opportunity to complete a course evaluation at the conclusion of the course to help the instructors know how well we are meeting the learning objectives and how well you like the format of delivery for the material. Other feedback related to the topic or course, including questions or concerns, is always welcome and may be submitted by E-Mail


Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with research on the nature, identification, and treatment strategies regarding ADHD. The course is intended to assist clinicians and others with enhancing knowledge of the subject. Since mental healthcare practitioners are at a higher than average risk of encountering someone with an ADHD, the ability to identify the problem and generate some initial treatment strategies is appropriate.

Skill Development:

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify the prominent features of ADHD.

2. Differentiate the subtypes of ADHD.

3. Explain possible treatment approaches for ADHD and identify possible risks and benefits.

4. Identify research areas that may be promising in understanding ADHD.

5. Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of potential ADHD etiology and some initial treatment strategies.

6. Correctly answer at least 75% of multiple choice questions on a quiz over the material.
