Target Audience:
This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Chemical Dependency Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Nurses, or any other healthcare provider that is likely to gain professionally from increased knowledge in the subject area. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the clinical topic in the course of practice.


Teaching Method:
This course is being delivered via a web-based format in which you will be asked to listen to and read material relevant to the topic and answer questions about the material you have heard and read. You will also have the opportunity to complete a course evaluation at the conclusion of the course to help the instructors know how well we are meeting the learning objectives and how well you like the format of delivery for the material. The audio material accompanying this course is purchased separately and may be accessed immediately online via streaming audio or mp3 download once purchased. You will also receive one or more CDs in the mail with the material for you to keep. Other feedback related to the topic or course, including questions or concerns, is always welcome and may be submitted by E-Mail.


Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with research on the nature, identification, and treatment strategies regarding ADHD in children and adolescents. The course is intended to assist clinicians and others with enhancing knowledge of the subject. It is appropriate for mental health clinicians and healthcare providers to be familiar with the basic concepts related to ADHD since they are more likely than others to receive solicitation for assistance in identifying and treating ADHD in children and adolescents.

2. Identify some important diagnostic criteria points in children and adolescents.

3. Identify specific evaluation strategies for identifying ADHD in children and adolescents.

4. Make a distinction between ADHD and other differential diagnoses.

5. Correctly answer 75% of multiple choice questions on a quiz over the material.
