Target Audience:
This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Chemical Dependency Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Nurses, or any other healthcare provider that is likely to gain professionally from increased knowledge in the subject area. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the clinical topic in the course of practice.


Teaching Method:
This course is being delivered via a web-based format in which you will be asked to read material relevant to the topic and answer questions about the material you have read. You will also have the opportunity to complete a course evaluation at the conclusion of the course to help the instructors know how well we are meeting the learning objectives and how well you like the format of delivery for the material. Other feedback related to the topic or course, including questions or concerns, is always welcome and may be submitted by E-Mail


Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with research regarding the effects of a rapid response to traumatic events. The course will differentiate between a fast and slow response pattern by mental health professionals and the impact that intervention response times have on the development or lack of development of PTSD over time in the victims.

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Define Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

2. Describe approaches to front line responding.

3. Identify statistical outcomes of early responding.

4. Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of trauma recovery positively impacting work with victims.

5. Correctly answer 75% of multiple choice questions on a quiz over the material.
