It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the clinical topic in the course of practice.

Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with research regarding the nature, identification, classification and treatment strategies of eating disorders. The course is intended to assist clinicians and others with enhancing knowledge of the subject. Since mental healthcare practitioners are at a higher than average risk of encountering someone who discloses features of an eating disorder, the ability to identify the problem and generate some initial treatment strategies is appropriate. Referral to a physician is always recommended and referral to a mental health specialist may be warranted in severe cases or if initial treatment approaches prove ineffective.
