The course objectives are outlined below. These are provided so that you as the learner will be familiar with what to expect from this course. It outlines what will be able to do when you have completed the material and how the material is to be delivered. If you would like to have a copy of the course objectives, please print this page now.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Professional Counselors. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the clinical topic in the course of practice.

Teaching Method:
This course is being delivered via a web-based format in which you will be asked to read material relevant to the topic and answer questions about the material you have read. You will also have the opportunity to complete a course evaluation at the conclusion of the course to help the instructors know how well we are meeting the learning objectives and how well you like the format of delivery for the material. Other feedback related to the topic or course, including questions or concerns, is always welcome and may be submitted by E-Mail

Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with ethical aspects of mental health services. Information focuses predominately on services delivery and administrative aspects of confidentiality in mental healthcare. It is not intended to be a comprehensive guide or resource and information is subject to change and does not replace the legal advice of an attorney. The learner will become familiar with variations and developments in mental health ethics and prevailing philosophies and concerns as well as implications of ethical violations.

It is recommended that you also spend at least 20-30 minutes reviewing your state board professional ethics (usually available from board website) to re-familiarize yourself with any state specific changes since your last review.
