The course objectives are outlined below. These are provided so that you as the learner will be familiar with what to expect from this course. Target Audience:
This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Chemical Dependency Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Nurses, or any other healthcare provider that is likely to gain professionally from increased knowledge in the subject area. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to inhalant abuse, or family members struggling with inhalant abuse within the family unit.


Teaching Method:
This course is being delivered via a web-based format in which you will be asked to view material relevant to the topic and answer questions about the material you have seen. You will also have the opportunity to complete a course evaluation at the conclusion of the course to help the instructors know how well we are meeting the learning objectives and how well you like the format of delivery for the material. Other feedback related to the topic or course, including questions or concerns, is always welcome and may be submitted by E-Mail


Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is to assist the helping professional in gaining a greater understanding of the scope and nature of inhalant abuse. Frequently a mental healthcare or other healthcare provider will be in front line position with regard to being able to detect and confront inhalant abuse, especially among young people. In addition, healthcare providers will be in a position to significantly promote awareness among parents and other community members regarding inhalant abuse detection, risk reduction, and intervention.

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Identify some of the statistical trends related to inhalant abuse.

2. Describe some symptoms of inhalant abuse.

3. Explain possible intervention strategies for inhalant abuse.

5. Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of the health risks of inhalant abuse.

6. Correctly answer at least 75% of multiple choice questions on a quiz over the material.
